We sell quality, fairly priced products, ensuring we are a shop for everyone. A place to buy just the quantity required; the ingredients for that one meal or potentially the opportunity to bulk buy.

We hold some 500 different products within our little store!
About Buy the Weigh
The notion of our local zero waste shop was created during the early stages of the COVID lockdown in March 2020, when in the confines of our home, we became increasingly aware of the excessive packaging on everyday items, often discarded within minutes of opening, and the minimal commitment from the supermarkets to decrease single use plastic. Our frustration at the plastic-happy supermarkets focused our search for alternatives whilst looking to help and serve the local and wider community.
Reuse & Not Recycle!
According to National Geographic, frighteningly only 9% of the world’s plastic has ever been recycled, the rest will take 400 years to degrade! This highlights the importance of REUSING NOT RECYCLING!
Buy The Weigh aims to help by doing our bit to rid our local environment of single use plastics as best we can.
We encourage customers to reuse and refill their existing containers wherever possible.
How to weigh your produce
It’s a simple process; firstly, you need to zero out the weight of your container.
This will make sure you only pay for the contents and not the weight of the container itself.
Place your empty container on the scale. After pressing the “empty container” icon, our high-tech touch-screen scales issue a label detailing the weight of your empty container. Stick this label to your container.
If you have a paper bag then you can simply skip this initial step, as the scales already have a predetermined tare weight for the paper bags.
Once the empty container is filled to your requirements, return to the scales. Scan the QR code on the original label and replace it for re-weighing. The scales deduct the weight of the empty container from the now filled one. Click on the produce icon that matches the product within your container.
Once your item has been selected, a second more detailed label is issued which can then be scanned at the till.
